lipscomb first baseman mitchell named national academic all-america

mitchell, from andalusia, ala., was named to the district iv all-academic first team, making him eligible for the national honor. he is a senior with a 4.0 gpa and is majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry.

 

he led the bisons in hitting with a .341 average and was second on the team in home runs with seven, doubles with 13 and slugging percentage (.517). mitchell also had a .988 fielding percentage.

 

mitchell was named to the atlantic sun conference all-academic team and was a provost's list scholar at lipscomb.
