the university studies program provides students with the opportunity to integrate areas of study that are of special interest to them. this flexibility allows the student to create a combination of courses that may not exist in other degree programs. this option may appeal to students who have specific post-baccalaureate degree paths in mind. students involved in the university studies major should contact the uiniversity registrar.
program curriculum
students majoring in university studies can earn either a bachelor of science or a bachelor of arts degree. the major requires the completion of 50 hours specific to the university studies program. students are required to select either two 12-hour concentrations or one 24-hour concentration. in addition to the concentration classes, students must complete 12 hours of foundation courses (beyond what is taken for general education), 12 hours of upper-division coursework, and a 2-hour capstone experience course.

major requirements
foundation courses:
select 12 hours of coursework from the subject areas below. the selected courses cannot be used to meet a general education requirement. at least 6 hours must be at the 2000 level or higher.

upper-division electives:
select 12 hours of upper-division coursework (3000 or 4000 level). these courses cannot be used to meet a general education requirement.
concentration requirement
students must choose either two 12 hour concentrations or create one 24 hour concentration.
custom concentration
a 12-hour or 24-hour custom concentration can be created by the student and advisor. at least 6 hours of the 12-hour concentration or 12 hours of the 24-hour concentration must be at the 3000 or 4000 level.
