the first semester of college music theory, including part-writing, harmonic analysis, and melodic harmonization applied to music of the common practice period (1600-1900). minimum grade of “c” required to proceed to mu 2133 and mu 2402 .
prerequisite: minimum grade of “c” in mu 1103 (fundamentals of music) or passing grade on theory placement exam
corequisite: mu 1111 (aural skills i)
