a survey of music in western culture from its ancient beginnings to the music of bach and handel; particular attention is given to the development of stylistic concepts through the extensive use of scores and recordings.
prerequisite: minimum grades of “c” in mu 2133 (theory iii) and mu 2402 (music literature).
